Hi, my name is Andy and I want to share with you how Allaura Wigs & Hair came into existence.

It all started in 2003, when my wife Mandy was sitting on top of a mountain in the Swiss Alps after our 5 week Busabout tour as backpackers in our early 20’s and she had an epiphany that changed the course of our lives. She said, “when I get home, I am not going back to the rat race. This is really livin”. We were both working in professional careers at the time, but sure enough, as soon as we got back she started to learn to sell on Ebay and an opportunity presented itself to us to sell lingerie seconds from one of my web design clients. Within 12 months, my wife started to work part time in her career and began to dabble in importing from China and Malaysia. As lingerie became flooded on Ebay, we looked for new opportunities and it became apparent that wigs was a small light item that can easily be posted Australia wide.

We became wholesalers of every wig company we knew – Australian, USA and UK and sold on Ebay and our own website. We read every wig book and information we could to learn everything about wigs. We studied all the different types of wigs, how you wear them, how you style them. And you know what we found out – costume wigs are made to look like crap! They never look like the photo and are a real disappointment. In fact, our Ebay store got closed down for a month due to the number of negative reviews we got from other sellers wigs. And so Allaura was born!

Allaura, founded out of our children’s names Alana and Laura, became our dream – to create a costume wig brand that customers actually liked! To hire our own models, photographers, makeup artists and create our own photoshoots without photoshopping and changing the wigs. To use a high synthetic fibre that is soft and silky and not the cheap fake and shiny fibres. To have a cap that is not scratchy and tight and gives you a head ache. And God damn it was so hard. We have spent the last 10 years manufacturing in China and have found a reliable manufacturer who has been established since 19?? and operates at the highest international product quality qualifications. Our range can now be found worldwide, allowing party goers to win the best dressed competition or get compliments all night. There is nothing more fun than a wig party and looking good at a wig party!

Since we have the freedom and time to work on something we love we are giving back to others across the world through KIVA loans so they too can support their families and lifestyle by creating their own business.
